Founded in 1850, Nishikane is a long-established Japanese restaurant in Fukui Prefecture, known for preserving the refined techniques and spirit of traditional Japanese cuisine passed down through generations.
Today, the sixth-generation chef, Nobuhiro Nishi, carries on the legacy.
In March 2025, Nishikane relocated to Singapore, opening a new location in the heart of the city on Tras Street.

For this new restaurant, Tanihata crafted and installed a 7-meter-wide kumiko latticework. The design draws inspiration from an aerial view of Chef Nishi’s hometown of Fukui City, adding a deep sense of narrative and refined Japanese aesthetics to the space.
