We had the honor of supplying our Kumiko work to the guest house of a private company located in Thailand.
For this project, the Kumiko design was created in collaboration with the design studio nendo.

nendo, led by Oki Sato, is one of Japan’s most renowned design studios, known for its wide-ranging work from architecture to product design.

The design takes inspiration from the aerial topography of both Thailand and Japan, expressing the image of the two countries lying side by side with clouds drifting gently between them—all articulated through the intricacy of Kumiko craftsmanship.

For the materials, Japanese cypress was used as the base wood, while the leaf elements incorporate signature timbers from each country, such as Thailand’s rubber wood and Japan’s Yaku Cedar.
This combination highlights the natural character of each wood, resulting in a refined and harmonious finish.
The work was created with heartfelt wishes for the peace and prosperity of both Thailand and Japan.
